My name is Mallory Mueller and welcome to Savoring Solo. I am a neonatal ICU nursing educator and during this pandemic I needed to find a creative outlet for myself that had nothing to do with nursing so I turned to my love of food and decided to launch a food blog. I love food whether it be cooking a homemade meal, dining out with friends or experiencing a new place around the world through their unique culinary creations. I grew up in a family of foodies where all our family gatherings were centered around a delicious meal and I learned the power of food to bring people together. For years I sat at our kitchen island watching my mom cook and credit her for teaching me how to cook. As a teenager I began to develop a passion for not just eating food but learning about food. I’d read cookbooks like they were a book and on weekends loved watching some of the Food Network greats especially Barefoot Contessa and Giada de Laurentiis. I have developed a love for baking and now also cooking that I wish to share with you all through these posts.

I’ve been single most of my adult life and while cooking for others is my favorite, I want to be able to enjoy a delicious homemade meal even if just for me. Cooking for one can be challenging, especially when most recipes are geared towards feeding four or more. I love trying new recipes but found I’d end up eating the same leftovers for an entire week or be wasteful. So I’m taking some of my favorite recipes from over the years including family favorites and scaling them down to feed one or two with occasionally a small amount of leftovers. I hope to create for you recipes that are easy, mostly healthy, and full of flavor so that you can enjoy homemade meals throughout the week. Thanks for checking out my page and happy cooking!
